Ballast
Ballast is the weight carried low so a boat can stand up to the wind. Some of it is lead. Some of it is people. Crews arrive in matching shirts with numbers on their backs. They rig, haul, climb and sit on the rail as weight, then fold the sails and sleep on deck. Few of them own anything here.
