LIMESTONE

Secular Pilgrimage

Every summer, people return to the Maine coast. They cross the same ferry routes, gather on the same porches, revisit familiar harbors, and settle into rhythms that have become rituals. Places visited often enough to feel familiar, even though they never truly belong to us.

Many of these communities are working to preserve ways of life that grow a little more fragile with each passing season.

We return not only to a place, but to a way of life we hope is still there.
